Chunky Quail Games, an indie studio based in Brisbane, Australia, has announced that their new game, Slumbering Woods, will be released for PC (Steam) in 2027.

They are also planning to exhibit at “BitSummit,” an indie game festival held in Japan, where they will showcase the charm of this title, which features hand-drawn artwork and immersive sound design.

“Slumbering Woods”

Set in a slumbering forest of fungi, Slumbering Woods is an exploration adventure game where planting mushrooms is the key to overcoming any obstacle. After being separated from their companions by a violent storm, the protagonist awakens in an unfamiliar land slowly being overtaken by ruin. To continue their journey, the player must help the villagers, acquire items, and use the power of mushrooms with diverse abilities to carve out hidden paths. Mushrooms spread across the earth, altering the environment itself—creating footholds or removing obstacles—and play a crucial role in puzzle-solving and exploration.
